Okay here's the deal.
I got a new computer. The old one died. In fact, Apple was going to repair the old computer and they had trouble so they gave me a brand new machine instead. Then I transferred my data. Since the old computer would no longer boot I could not release the registration key. So under my account I requested to release the key.
No worries, I have a second. I was able to register the second. Well, then I realized part of the original issue may have been the name of my computer under the sharing preferences. So I changed it back. Then the game complained, so I attempted to release it from within the game, and then I got an error:
And when I click on help now, I get the very un-useful:
However, it appears now my second registration key, which seemed to work at first, no longer does, and now I have no registration keys that work.
Please contact me.
Registration failure
Re: Registration failure
The fact that the game uses the computer's sharing name as part of its authentication is actually a very, very bad idea. Better would be to solely reference the computer's MAC address.
Why is this important?
The sharing name can change. If a user wishes to change the name as to advertise it upon a local network, the user could then have authentication issues. If a user performs an Archive & Install without preserving user and network settings, this would likely resort in authentication issues.
Quite frankly, this baffles me.

Re: Registration failure
I am not sure why you get eSellerate errors as OOTPX on the Mac does not use eSellerate. Can you make sure you have got patch 1 installed. Then read this post to see how to reset your license if it is still stuck.

Let me know how you get on..

Re: Registration failure
Thanks for the really quick reply!
I did a fresh install and applied Patch #1 from ootp's web site.
I've tried both serial numbers, which in the account page says they're both in use by different computers. Setting the name of my computer in Sharing to give either ProudBookPro.local or martin-the-prouds-macbook-pro.local, the name that the page says each have one in use, and then trying to register with either serial number does nothing, giving:
"The product was not activated. Please check the serial number was entered correctly and try again. Game will run in demo mode."
I've done the "Manually register license" to no avail either.
Please advise. Thanks!
